CHOCOLATE MILK MONDAY CLUB

(ANCHOR LEAD)

The Chocolate Milk Monday Club is a new social organization at J-M-U. They do fun activities while enjoying delicious chocolate milk. Breeze T-V’s Hannah Long reveals what exactly this club has to offer.

(NAT SOUND)

Opening a carton of chocolate milk and pouring it into a glass.

(TRACK 1)

Anyone is welcome at Chocolate Milk Monday meetings. Even if you don't like chocolate milk. Like the club founder.

(SOT-MARYSSA MANUSCO)

I like the idea of chocolate milk, I think it brings people together, makes people smile.

(TRACK 2)

So why did she start a club about a drink she hates?

(SOT-MARYSSA MANUSCO)

The idea originally came from this group of friends I have at Tech, because after school on Mondays they’d be kind of down… It’s a nice, fun all-inclusive social club.

(TRACK 3)

Chocolate Milk Monday has about four hundred and 50 members in its very first year. They jam into Maury Hall and hang out on the Quad too. On weekends they even go hiking. And chocolate milk is always provided.

(SOT-MARYSSA MANUSCO)

I did not at all expect this club to be popular. I thought it would just be me and my friends just hanging out.

(TRACK 4)

Starting a new club is a lot of work. First there’s months of meetings and forms. Now club co-president Matthew Callahan leads the Monday night meetings.

(SOT-MATTHEW CALLAHAN)

I’ll pour people a glass of chocolate milk and just make sure everyone’s having fun.

(TRACK 5)

This club is unique, but one idea could help them stand out even more in the future.

(SOT-KATHARINE STODDARD)

I think the Chocolate Milk Monday club should definitely sell those cow costumes for all of its members.

(TRACK 6)

If you like chocolate milk or just hanging out, this is the club for you. Reporting for Breeze T-V in Harrisonburg, I’m Hannah Long.
